Every year Arcadia awards thousands of prizes and free gifts to happy customers. Here are just some of the stories…
Bride-to-be wins R25, 000. 00!
Mokopane bride to be, Risca Martins, was delighted to be Arcadia's big winner for
September.
"I was really surprised and really happy," Risca said.
"I have paid some debts and have put the rest of the money away for the wedding," was her response to being asked what she planned to do with her prize. She and fiancé Alwyn plan to tie the knot next year.
"Having won R25, 000.00 means that the wedding can be bigger and even lovelier than we had planned," she said. "We really want all our family and friends to be there and that means about 300 to 350 people. This is really going to give us a boost." No date has been set for the wedding, which will be held in Stella in the North West.
A regular Arcadia shopper, Risca has already placed her next order for two
Aerospace pillows, showing that she knows how to sleep easy with good quality while dreaming about her next possible win.
"Now there 's a bit of money in the bank!"
Seeing was believing for Strand housewife Hester Dippenaar, who didn't believe at first that she had really won R20, 000.00 from Arcadia Home Shopping.
"I said to my husband that it sounded like one of those new tricks. But then I was at the bank with my daughter and saw that the money had been deposited into my bank account.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart; it is a blessing," she said. "Our family has been struggling, as despite her university degree, my daughter has not been able to find work for the past seven years. " Not one for making any rash decisions, Hester plans to leave the money in the bank for now. "It is safe in my savings account. Time will help me decide what needs the most urgent attention."
The money will assist with tasks around the house, such as repairing or replacing the stove. "It is great that I now have this opportunity to make decisions. I want to calm down first and relax, knowing that there is a bit of money in the bank.
"It was a big surprise when I heard I'd won R12, 175.00"
Phalaborwa housewife and businesswoman Helena Biewenga is not giving up her prize money from Arcadia for anyone - not even her husband.
"It was a big surprise when I heard I'd won R12, 175.00," she said. "I haven't decided what I am going to do with the money yet, but I know I am too stingy to share it. My husband wants to buy a brand new golf set but I put my foot down!"
The mother of two adult children works with her husband in their accommodation business for the construction industry. "I have bought lots of products through
Arcadia, such as vitamin pills and kitchen items and am very happy with the quality of the products," she said.
Helena is not sure how she will spend her windfall but says it won't be on a holiday.
"We can't go away because we have eight dogs at home, they are like my children. I will leave it in the bank for now."
"R18, 420.00 was very welcome - especially with Christmas on its way."
Pensioner Dorothy Turnbull is looking forward to a Merry Christmas with her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren after her win from Arcadia Home
Shopping.
She lives on a farm in the Rustenburg district of the North West Province and has been buying "a merry mix-up of whatever I like" through the catalogue for many years. "I'm a pensioner and it is a battle to come through with money, so the R 18,420 from Arcadia is wonderful. I'm going to put it away and live happily ever after," she laughed.
"It was very welcome, especially with Christmas on its way. It will be lovely to be able to give the grandchildren and great-grandchildren something this year, especially since my family from Australia will be visiting me."
